Jazz At Accrington Con Club

Jay McShann
Jay McShann     January 1979

As you can see from his face, Jay McShann brought a sense of fun with his driving jazz and blues piano. He is famous for being the first man to employ Charlie Parker on alto and to have Jimmy Witherspoon as his singer.

When he came to Accrington the place really jumped to the rhythm of his left hand chords and runs.

A Boogie Woogie article on Jay McShann.
