Jazz At Other Local Venues

Benny Carter     June 1997.

Taken at Colne Municipal Hall, a place which offered much better lighting than I was used to. The second of a trio of jazz legends on this page, Benny Carter was seventy when he came to Colne but he had lost none of his strengths.

A virtuoso on alto sax and on trumpet, he played a full range of standards (some of which like 'When Lights are Low' he had written himself) and we were all sorry when the concert came to as end.

Read more about him at the Benny Carter website.
