Jazz At Other Local Venues
Taken at Colne Municipal Hall, a place which offered much better lighting than
I was used to. The second of a trio of jazz legends on this page, Benny Carter was
seventy when he came to Colne but he had lost none of his strengths.
A virtuoso on alto sax and on trumpet, he played a full range of standards
(some of which like 'When Lights are Low' he had written himself) and we were all
sorry when the concert came to as end.
